What is Cervical Cancer: Many women in the country die due to cervical cancer. In many cases it has been seen that the patient does not even have basic information about this, due to which their life ends due to falling prey to such serious diseases. In view of this, every year January is celebrated as Cervical Cancer Awareness Month. Under this, women are made aware about cervical cancer and they are told how they can protect themselves from this disease. In this connection, a special conversation was held with senior gynecologist Garima Sahni. She gave very important information about this disease.
What is cervical cancer?
Dr. Garima Sahni first gave information about cervical cancer, which occurs in the cervix (lower part of the uterus). She said that cervical cancer is called cervical cancer. The initial part of the uterus is called cervix. We call it the mouth of the uterus in common language. Dr. Garima Sahni explains that this happens when abnormal growth starts in the cells of the cervix. Abnormal means when a normal cell turns into a cancer cell. We call it 'cervical cancer' in medical language.
What are the symptoms of cervical cancer?
Dr. Garima Sahni also told about its initial symptoms. She said that bleeding is common in the initial symptoms. Apart from this, bleeding also occurs many times during sex. We call it postcoital bleeding in medical language. Some foul smell starts coming from the body. If any kind of problem occurs in such a situation, then you should immediately go to the doctor and consult him.
Which tests are extremely important?
Dr. Garima Sahni tells that for this you can get a medical checkup done. The most important medical checkup is PapsPear. PapsPear should be done by any sexually active woman once in three years. If abnormal cells are seen in a woman in this checkup, then after this Kolkopski checkup should be done. In this checkup, if there is a possibility of cancer at any place, then that piece is taken and sent for biopsy.
What causes cervical cancer?
Dr. Garima Sahni also explains its causes. She says that the most common cause of cervical cancer is 'Human Papilloma Virus'. Usually, the virus related to this cancer enters the woman during sex. Especially women who have more than one sexual partner are more likely to get cervical cancer. Along with this, sometimes this type of cancer is also seen in older women.
