The campaign to improve the quality of school education will now start from the districts. The existing District Education and Training Institutes (DIET) in each district have been entrusted with this responsibility, which will not only monitor the performance of each school in the district, but if the performance is below the standard, it will also provide fresh training to the teachers of the concerned subject in those schools.

For this, every DIET will be upgraded and designated as a centre of excellence. During this period, Rs 15 crore will be spent on each DIET in the next five years. The Ministry of Education, which is rapidly implementing the new National Education Policy (NEP), has accepted the recommendations of the policy and has started working towards shaping the DIETs across the country as centres of excellence.

More than nine thousand crore rupees will be spent

Under this, more than nine thousand crore rupees will be spent in the next five years. At the same time, a target has also been set to improve the DIETs across the country by the year 2028. During this time, the DIET will work to improve both the existing government and private schools in the district. At present, the DIET has the responsibility of training teachers, but now it will also run a campaign to train teachers on the basis of the performance of the schools.

Along with this, DIET will now also look into the implementation of NEP in the district, in which it will also train teachers on the method of teaching the new books coming for the schools etc. Anyway, under the new structure of school education, new textbooks from Balvatika to first, second, third and sixth class have already come.

Approval to open DIET in 672 districts

By the next session, new textbooks for fourth, fifth, seventh and eighth standard will also be available. These textbooks have been prepared under the recommendations of NEP. Although permission has been given to open DIETs in 672 districts of the country, but right now these institutes are functioning only in 613 of these districts.

The diet will be upgraded like this

Under this campaign, every DIET will be fully equipped with state-of-the-art resources, which will include modern classrooms, library, monitoring dashboard etc. Along with this, manpower will also be strengthened in these institutions. A research branch will also be established in these institutes. All DIETs of every state will work under the supervision of State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT). Which will also release their ranking every year on the basis of the performance of the DIET.
