The Supreme Court has given an important decision regarding the treatment of the injured after a road accident. The court has said that the government should make such a plan so that people can get treatment after an accident without paying any money. The Supreme Court has said that the central government should prepare a plan for cashless medical facility for road accident victims during the "Golden Hour" period. The first one hour after a serious injury is called the "Golden Hour". This time is considered to be the most important for the treatment of the injured.

In case of a serious injury, it is very important to get proper treatment within one hour. If the injured person gets treatment during this time, there is a higher chance of survival. If there is a delay, the chances of death or disability increase.

What did the court say?

The Supreme Court said that many times it happens that the close ones and relatives of the person injured in the accident are not around him. Therefore there is no one to help him. The injured person should get the necessary treatment in the golden hour, but often the necessary treatment is denied in the golden hour. In such a situation, hospitals also sometimes wait till the police arrives. Their concern is about the cost of treatment. In many cases, if the necessary treatment is not provided during the golden hour, the injured may die. In such a situation, a cashless scheme is necessary.

Government should implement the policy by March 14

A bench of Justice Abhay S Oka and Justice Augustine George Masih said that under Section 162 of the Motor Vehicles Act, it is the responsibility of the Central Government to provide cashless treatment to accident victims during the golden hour. The court has given the government time till March 14 to implement the scheme. The Supreme Court will hear the matter again on March 24.
