
Holi 2025: Delhi Police has launched a campaign against illegal liquor trade before Holi. Police have seized a consignment of illegal liquor in South Delhi. During the operation, 5 liquor smugglers including a minor were caught. The accused have been identified as 24-year-old Devendra alias Dev, 22-year-old Vicky, 20-year-old Divij Arya and 34-year-old Krishna. The arrested accused are residents of Sangam Vihar, Faridabad and Meerut. Police have recovered 4342 quarters of illegal liquor, 180 beer bottles, scooty and motorcycle.
DCP Ankit Chauhan said that preparations have been made in a strong manner to crack down on the organized crime of illegal liquor and gambling. The team of Head Constable Dayanand, Mukesh, Rohit Bhati, Kuldeep, Ram Avatar, Rajan, Constable Mahesh, Avnish and Hari Mohan of Tigdi police station has been activated. Rapid action is being taken after getting information from sources. DCP Ankit Chauhan said that patrolling was arranged at 4 am on March 12.
Campaign against illicit liquor trade
The patrol team noticed a bike rider near Sangam Vihar. The man was carrying a carton of liquor in suspicious condition on the bike. The police tried to stop the suspect. Instead of stopping, the suspect started running. The patrol team showed agility and caught him. During interrogation, the accused was identified as Devendra alias Dev. The consignment of liquor was recovered after searching the carton.
A total of five smugglers including a minor were arrested
During interrogation, it was revealed that the liquor storage centre is Tigadi. Liquor is supplied from Tigadi. Based on the disclosure of the accused, the police raided and seized 4142 quarters of liquor and 180 beer bottles. During the operation, four other accomplices were also nabbed. They had tried to escape with the liquor. The smugglers' attempt failed in front of the police. A case under the Excise Act has been registered against the accused. The police has started further investigation.
