Britain's Transport Secretary Resign: Britain's Transport Minister Louise Haigh resigned from her post on Friday (29 November). The reason behind the resignation was the disclosure of Louise Haigh's confession of a crime before becoming a member of the UK Parliament. The resignation of the Transport Minister is the first resignation by a member of the party after the Labour Party government led by Prime Minister Keir Starmer came to power by winning the general election in July.

When did the Transport Minister announce his resignation

Louise Haigh announced her resignation after it was revealed in the media that she had falsely told the police that her mobile had been stolen during a robbery in 2013. However, she later found the phone. But, she did not inform the police about it. According to the British media, she had pleaded guilty to fraud in court in 2014. After which she was released without any further action.

What did Louise Haigh write in her resignation letter ?

In her resignation letter published by Downing Street, Louise Haigh wrote, "I did not want to be a distraction for the government." She wrote, "I am fully committed to my political project, but now I believe that it would be better for everyone if I support you while staying out of the government."

The Prime Minister thanked Louise Haigh

After Louise Hague resigned, Prime Minister Keir Starmer thanked her for her work. The Prime Minister said that Hague had made "huge progress" in returning the country's railways to public ownership.

Let us tell you that earlier in the month of October, PM Starmer had also lost his Chief of Staff Sue Gray, who was under media scrutiny for several months.

Heig inspected the new high-speed train

It is noteworthy that Louise Haigh oversaw the new project of high-speed HS2 train, which was surrounded by controversies after the previous Conservative government destroyed important parts of the railway due to high cost. Apart from this, she was responsible for re-nationalizing the country's railway services under the government's plan, which was approved by the Parliament only last week.
