Dhaka: After Sheikh Hasina stepped down and left the country, Bangladesh's Mohammad Yunus government took a big decision on Thursday. Bangladesh's Foreign Ministry has called back five of its ambassadors to Dhaka. These ambassadors were posted in India, Australia, Belgium, Portugal and the United Nations.

An official said that all these ambassadors have been asked to return immediately after handing over their responsibilities. Bangladesh has taken this step after recalling High Commissioner to Britain Saida Muna Tasneem.

All were ordered to return immediately

A Bangladesh Foreign Ministry official said on Thursday that the interim government has recalled envoys from five countries, including its ambassador to India, in a major diplomatic reshuffle. Speaking on condition of anonymity, the official said the Foreign Ministry has ordered ambassadors posted in Brussels, Canberra, Lisbon, New Delhi and the Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York to return to Dhaka immediately.

Hasina resigned amid violence

In July this year, the student movement against reservation in Bangladesh turned violent. More than 700 people lost their lives in this. After this, a violent crowd of students started marching towards the Prime Minister's residence in the capital Dhaka. Due to increasing violence and security concerns, the then Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned from her post on August 5 and left the country and took refuge in India.

Relations with India are not normal

After Sheikh Hasina left the country, there was violence against Hindus in 48 districts of Bangladesh. India strongly protested against this. Since then relations between India and Bangladesh are not normal. Both countries also share a border of about 4,000 kilometers.
