Varanasi News Today: People are bidding farewell to the year 2024 in their own style. However, this year there were many veterans of Banaras who said goodbye to the world. In the month of November itself, senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader and 7-time MLA Shyamdev Rai Choudhary died. 

Apart from this, former Mahant of Kashi Vishwanath temple, Dr Kulpati Tiwari passed away in the month of June. In the same sequence, the people of Kashi were deeply saddened by the death of Kashi scholar Pandit Lakshmikant Dixit, who had found the Muhurta for Ram Mandir Prana Pratishtha, and BHU's famous professor Dr Kaushal Kishore Mishra in 2024.

Sadness prevails due to the death of former MLA.
In the month of November, veteran leader of Bharatiya Janata Party and MLA from Varanasi for seven consecutive terms, Shyamdev Rai Chaudhary passed away. His stature can be estimated from the fact that even when Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party used to dominate the politics of Uttar Pradesh, he used to get elected as MLA from BJP continuously. 

Along with his simplicity, he used to take to the streets for issues related to public interest, directly against the opposition party as well as his own party. The demise of BJP's Bhishma Pitamah had caused disappointment in the ruling and opposition parties as well.

Renowned Vedic scholar bids farewell
Former Mahant of Kashi Vishwanath temple Dr Kulpati Tiwari also passed away in June 2024. Following the Mahant tradition, he had carried forward traditions like Baba's Gauna, Rang Bhari Ekadashi. Even today, lakhs of people throng the streets of Varanasi to participate in this event related to Lord Vishwanath. The death of Pandit Laxmikant Dixit, a scholar of Vedic scriptures, who had found the Muhurta for Ram Mandir Prana Pratishtha, was also disappointing for the people of Kashi.

Students wept over the death of BHU professor.
Even today, many people of Banaras could not believe the news of the death of Dr. Kaushal Kishore Mishra, professor of political science at BHU, in the month of October 2024. Apart from being popular among the students, he was also known for his Banarasi style. His views were heard by millions of people on social media as well. 

The news of the death of Professor Dr. Kaushal Kishore Mishra brought tears to the eyes of not only his well-wishers but also his critics. In such a situation, the year 2024 is being left behind with many bittersweet memories, but this year there were many such great personalities who said goodbye to the world and left the people of Banaras disappointed.
