Pakistan is hosting the SCO summit on October 15-16. The deployment comes as supporters of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party led by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur reached D-Chowk to take part in the protest.

What is the demand of PTI

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf supporters are demanding the release of Imran Khan. Cricketer-turned-political leader Imran Khan refused to suspend the protest despite the government's call. Muhammad Ali Saif, Information Advisor to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, told Geo News that army troops have been deployed to deal with Khan's party's protest in the capital. He said that army personnel have been deployed to ensure security during the upcoming SCO summit.
