The central government has called an all-party meeting in Parliament on November 24 before the start of the winter session. This is where the strategy of the government and the opposition will be revealed. The session starting on November 25 will end on December 20. During the winter session, the government will try to pass the Wakf Amendment Bill. During the session, the government can also introduce the 'One Nation One Election' bill.
Before the winter session of Parliament begins, the government will give details of the government's parliamentary agenda for the upcoming session to the opposition parties, especially in a meeting of all parties on Sunday. It will also mention various topics for discussion in Parliament. There are full chances of the winter session being heated up due to the 'One Nation One Election' bill and the Wakf Amendment bill.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently said that the government is working towards holding Lok Sabha and Assembly elections simultaneously to ensure one country one election. He said that India is now moving towards 'One Nation One Civil Code', which is a secular civil code.
However, Congress had rejected this idea outright and said that the Prime Minister will have to take everyone into confidence in Parliament on this issue. At the same time, efforts can be made to pass the Wakf Amendment Bill in this session itself, which is currently under consideration of the Joint Committee of Parliament. This committee is regularly holding meetings with various states to prepare a report on this.
All party meeting will be held on November 24
The results of the Jharkhand and Maharashtra assembly elections are also to be announced on November 23, which is likely to be discussed in Parliament. Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju posted on X that an all-party meeting will be held on November 24 at 11 am in the main committee room in the Annexe of Parliament House.
From when to when will the session run?
The President, on the recommendation of the Government of India, has given permission to start the winter session of the year 2024 (from November 25 to December 20) for parliamentary work. He also informed that a function will be organized in the Central Hall of Samvidhan Sadan on the 75th anniversary of Constitution Day on November 26.
