Aligarh News Today: A temple has been found in a dilapidated condition in Sarai Rehman area of Banna Devi police station area of Aligarh. It is being told that this temple was closed for years. Recently it has been reopened under the supervision of the administration. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is said to be more than 45 years old.
Due to the presence of Muslim houses around the temple, this matter had become a matter of religious and social sensitivity. According to information received from local people and administrative officials, this temple was closed for years. The area around this temple is Muslim-dominated and over time the temple became a victim of neglect.
Karni Sena and Hindu organizations alleged that the area around the temple has been illegally occupied by the Muslim community. Hindu organizations protested against the long-term closure of the temple and the Muslim population on the land around it. Hindu organizations allege that the alleged original land of the temple has been occupied.
Protest at the District Collector's Office
Hindu organizations alleged that the temple was deliberately neglected, which could reduce its religious importance to the community. Karni Sena and other organizations protested vigorously at the District Collector's Office on this issue. At present, the administration has taken cognizance of this matter.
Additional Municipal Commissioner Rakesh Kumar and the team of Banna Devi police station visited the spot and took stock of the situation. After this, the door of the temple was opened under the supervision of the administration and it was cleaned. Administrative officials said that some old idols were kept in the temple. After cleaning the temple, it was prepared for worship. However, in this process the administration did not face any kind of resistance from the local Muslim community.
This is the reason for the temple being closed.
People from the local Muslim community said that there is no illegal occupation around the temple. They say that this temple was vacated years ago, when some Hindu families living here sold their land and moved somewhere else. People said that the idols of the temple were also taken away by the concerned families.
According to the Muslim community, the temple was neglected as worship stopped in the temple. Locals said that this issue is being deliberately raised by some organizations so that communal harmony in the area can be disturbed.
Hindu organizations made this claim
On the other hand, Karni Sena and Hindu organizations alleged that the temple has been dominated by the Muslim community for a long time, due to which the local Hindu community was unable to reach the temple. They also claim that there may be more land around the temple, which is part of the original property of the temple. These organizations have appealed to the administration to excavate the land of the temple and if other properties related to the temple are found, then they should also be handed over to the Hindu community.
What did the administration say about the temple?
Additional Municipal Commissioner Rakesh Kumar said that this temple is a small room in which some idols are kept. He clarified that the Municipal Corporation has no direct connection with this matter. The district administration has more information about this matter and it will take further action on it.
