Abbas Ansari Bail: The Supreme Court on Friday gave a big relief to MLA Abbas Ansari in the money laundering case. The court has approved Abbas Ansari's bail, the Subhaspa MLA has got bail in the money laundering case and the case of illegally meeting his wife in Chitrakoot jail. However, due to pending charges related to the Gangster Act, Abbas Ansari will not be able to come out of jail right now. At the same time, the court has also emphasized that Abbas Ansari should cooperate in the ongoing investigation.

Allahabad High Court rejected the bail plea on 9 May

MLA Abbas Ansari has been granted bail by a bench of Justice MM Sundresh and Justice Pankaj Mithal. Earlier on August 14, the Supreme Court had issued a notice to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) seeking a reply on Ansari's appeal challenging the Allahabad High Court order, in which he was denied bail. On May 9, the Allahabad High Court rejected Ansari's bail plea, citing the material on record.

The court had also said in its order that there are indications of Ansari's money transactions with two companies M/s Vikas Construction and M/s Aagaaz. The ED alleged that Ansari used these companies for money laundering. The ED had registered a case against Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) MLA Abbas Ansari under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002 on the basis of three previous cases. Ansari, an MLA from Mau seat of Uttar Pradesh, is currently in Kasganj jail.
