Haidilao, one of China's largest restaurant chains, has agreed to compensate thousands of its customers. The restaurant chain has taken this decision after a customer urinated in the restaurant's hotpot and its video went viral.

In fact, this video shot last month shows a man standing on a table and urinating into a hotpot with boiling broth at a Haidilao outlet in Shanghai. Another man was reportedly involved in this disgusting act.

The company apologized

Haidilao has apologised for the incident and said it would take legal action against those responsible. "On the morning of February 24, two people urinated into a hotpot after having lunch in a private room at the Haidilao branch on the Bund in Shanghai," the company said.

It said, "Since the restaurant management had never been trained to deal with such an incident, our branch staff were unable to detect any abnormalities at the scene or maintain the safety of the dining environment.

Haidilao will give this much money to the customers

The restaurant said it would compensate any customer involved in the 4,100 orders between Feb. 24 and March 8. The compensation would be up to 10 times the lump sum, the company said. Shanghai police said two 17-year-olds had been detained in connection with the incident.

Rage against the restaurant on social media

Haidilao is popular for its service and menu, including its broth. It has expanded its presence outside China and has also opened outlets in the US, Japan and the UK.

Haidilao is known in China for its good service and menu. The soup is also very popular. After the viral video, users on China's social media site Weibo have slammed the company.

The company was accused of keeping silent for so many days after the incident and not issuing any statement till now. According to AFP report, one user said, "Where was this (apology) in the beginning? Wouldn't it have been better to say this from the beginning."
