Sources indicate that Devji, a top-level Naxalite leader and Politburo member, was also killed in the encounter. A large quantity of weapons and ammunition was recovered from the slain Naxalites. The day after Hidma was killed, an encounter took place in the same area.

On November 18th, notorious Naxalite leader Hidma was killed in this same area, along with six other Naxalites, including his wife. This morning, when a team of security forces advanced into the area again, Naxalites opened fire from within the dense forest. Seven Naxalites were killed in retaliatory action.

A major operation is underway in Andhra Pradesh's Maredumilli area.

The encounter took place in the Maredumilli forests of Alluri Sitarama Raju district in Andhra Pradesh, where a massive search operation is still underway. Teams are cordoning off sensitive areas of the area to prevent any remaining Naxalite groups from escaping.
