People have expressed concern that it's unfair to constrain human life to such strictures. Many have acknowledged that these rules are making people feel guilty.

This entire controversy originated in Lincang Village, Yunnan Province, southwest China. Many of the village's rules for its citizens are proving to be a source of dissatisfaction with the public online. A notice titled "Village Rules: All are Equal" has been posted throughout the village. This notice is now viral on social media.

Strange rules made for the villagers

According to a report in the South China Morning Post, the notice listed various penalties related to marriage, pregnancy, and personal behavior, sparking a major debate.

According to a photo of the notice that went viral online, those who marry outside Yunnan province will be fined 1,500 yuan. Women who become pregnant before marriage will be fined 3,000 yuan. Couples who live together without marriage will be fined 500 yuan annually.

The notice also said that if a child is born within 10 months of marriage of any couple, the parents will be fined 3,000 yuan.

According to the rules, if a couple quarrels and village officials come to resolve the dispute, each person must pay 500 yuan. Those who cause a disturbance or cause trouble in the village while intoxicated will be fined 3,000 to 5,000 yuan.

How many people are in the village?

It's worth noting that the exact number of people living in the village and its economic situation are currently unknown. On December 16th of this year, an official with the Mengding Town government told Red Star News that the notice was strange. However, they claimed that the notice was later removed.
