News Topical, Digital Desk : A major controversy has erupted over the allocation of medical seats at Mata Vaishno Devi College in Jammu. The atmosphere is tense after allegations that 42 of the college's 50 medical seats were allocated to Muslim students. While the debate on this issue is raging on social media, a wave of protests has also erupted on the streets.

According to reports, Bajrang Dal, strongly opposing the decision, announced a march towards the Raj Bhavan in Jammu today, following which both political activity and security increased in the area.

Bajrang Dal submitted a memorandum to the Governor demanding an investigation.

Bajrang Dal activists gathered in large numbers from various parts of the city since early morning and began marching towards the Raj Bhavan, shouting slogans against the college administration and the Shrine Board. They said the seat allocation was an example of forced favoritism and that the Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board should provide a clear answer in this matter. The activists wanted to submit a memorandum to the Governor demanding an investigation.

However, the police established tight security to prevent the protesters from proceeding towards the Raj Bhavan. A heavy police force was deployed and the road was blocked with barricades. As the protesters began to advance, the police stopped them, leading to a scuffle between the two sides. Tensions escalated several times during the protest, but the police tried to keep the situation under control.

Transparency should be paramount in institutions associated with religious places.

Bajrang Dal activists have been continuously raising slogans against the Shrine Board, calling the seat allocation unfair and suspicious, and demanding that its full record be made public. They argue that transparency should be paramount in institutions associated with a religious site like Mata Vaishno Devi, and that no particular community should be given unfair advantage.

The march towards Raj Bhavan was against security protocols – Administration

The administration has stated that the situation is being closely monitored and that no unrest will be allowed. Police officials say that peaceful protests are permitted, but the march toward the Raj Bhavan violates security protocols. Currently, this controversy has sparked new political turmoil in Jammu. The Bajrang Dal remains firm on its demands, while the government and the Shrine Board have yet to issue any formal statement. In the coming days, this issue could impact both the state's political and social climate.
