News Topical, Digital Desk : Amid the US-Israel conflict, Iran has granted safe passage to Indian-flagged tankers through the Strait of Hormuz. The Indian-flagged LPG tanker "Shivalik" has successfully transited the strait, and now another LPG vessel, "Nanda Devi," has also safely transited this vital oil route.

Government sources said on Saturday that the "Shivalik" is being escorted by the Indian Navy. The ship is expected to reach an Indian port within the next two days, with Mumbai or Kandla as its likely destination. The ship is now in the open sea and is proceeding safely under the guidance of the Indian Navy.

How much gas is the Nanda Devi ship carrying?

Meanwhile, the Nanda Devi is carrying more than 46,000 metric tons of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) , crucial to India's energy supply chain, they said. Sources said both ships are being closely guided by naval assets to ensure a safe transit through the strategically sensitive waters.

PM Modi spoke to Masood Pezeshkian

The move follows high-level talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on the flow of goods and energy. Meanwhile, Iran's ambassador to India, Mohammad Fathali, hinted on Friday that Indian ships may soon have safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz amid rising tensions in the Middle East.

Indian government helped us'

Fathali said that India and Iran have common interests in the region. He said, "Yes, because India is our friend. You will see this within two or three hours. We believe that Iran and India have similar interests in this region." He added, "As the ambassador to India, I would like to say that in this situation, after the war, the Indian government helped us in various areas."
