News Topical, Digital Desk : The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized 12 kg of hydroponic weed worth around Rs 12 crore at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad.

The Directorate of Investigation (DRI) announced on Saturday that a female passenger has been arrested in connection with the case. It's worth noting that hydroponic weed is a narcotic. Hydroponics involves growing plants by placing their roots in a liquid nutrient solution instead of soil.

Acting on a tip-off, officers from the Hyderabad unit of the DRI intercepted an Indian passenger arriving from Dubai at the airport. A search of the passenger's luggage led to the recovery of six kilograms of hydroponic cannabis.

Upon questioning the passenger, it was revealed that another of his checked-in bags had been lost, for which he had already filed a complaint. The baggage arrived in Hyderabad on Saturday, and upon inspection, six kilograms of hydroponic weed was recovered.

In total, 12 kilograms of hydroponic weed, worth approximately ₹12 crore, was seized. The passenger has been arrested.
