1. Ratan Naval Tata was the great-grandson of Jamsetji Tata, who founded the Tata Group. Ratan Tata was born on 28 December 1937 in Mumbai to Naval Tata and Sooni Tata.

2. Ratan Tata received his primary education from Campion School in Mumbai. He studied here till class 8. After this, he studied further from John Conan School (Mumbai), Bishop Cotton School (Shimla) and Riverdale Country School (New York).

3. He received a bachelor's degree in architecture from Cornell University in New York in 1959. He began his career with Tata Steel in 1961. This experience laid the foundation for his future leadership role within the group.

4. He was raised by his grandmother Navajbai Tata after his parents separated in 1948. There were talks of Ratan Tata's marriage many times, but Ratan Tata never married.
