This study examined phthalates, banned fire retardants and many other harmful chemicals. Actually, phthalates are used in plastic products . It makes plastic more flexible and durable. Phthalates are also found in plastic containers, shampoo, makeup, perfume and children's toys.
Exposure to these harmful chemicals can cause problems in the production of hormones in the body. Phthalates are linked to early puberty, reproductive problems and genital problems. In this study, mattresses were found to have very high levels of phthalates, which are banned in toys but not in mattresses (child safety bedding).
