News Topical, Digital Desk : Unidentified individuals claiming to be members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang demanded a ransom of ₹10 crore from a Thane builder. Police have registered a case in this matter.

According to a complaint filed by a 60-year-old businessman at the Naupada police station, he received several WhatsApp calls on February 11th while he was in Madhya Pradesh to attend a religious event. Upon answering the calls, he was asked to pay a ransom of ₹10 crore (100 million rupees). Failure to do so threatened death. The caller identified himself as a member of the Bishnoi gang.

Threatened by sending audio clip

He also received four WhatsApp calls from international numbers on February 20. When he did not answer, the suspect sent an audio clip to his mobile phone at 12:29 pm, threatening to kill him.

Police registered a case

Senior Inspector Abhay Chandranath Mahajan of the Naupada police station said that an FIR was registered on February 20 based on the businessman's complaint, WhatsApp calls, and audio clips. He added that no arrests have been made in the case yet.
