News Topical, Digital Desk : The Yogi government is continuously taking steps for the benefit of maize farmers. The economy of the state is mainly dependent on agriculture. Agriculture is also the source of income for two-thirds of the population. Along with increasing the income of UP farmers, it is becoming appropriate to choose such a crop to enrich the economy, which will enrich the farmers as well as the industry.

At present, the utility of maize is not only in food grains, animal feed, animal feed, but as a result of research, it is also being used in the production of energy. Now the farmer has become an energy provider along with being a food provider. To increase the production and productivity of maize in the state, it is necessary to make farmers aware about species development, improvement of package of practices, industry based processing and marketing. To fulfill these objectives, a meeting has been organized on Friday (July 4) at 3 pm on the first floor of Krishi Bhawan under the aegis of the Agriculture Department, in which 05 senior scientists of Indian Maize Research Institute Ludhiana Punjab and senior scientists of International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (ICAR-IIMR & CIMMYT) Mexico will be present.

 

 

Principal Secretary Agriculture will preside over the meeting

This meeting will be chaired by the Principal Secretary (Agriculture). In this, the Vice Chancellors of Chandrashekhar Azad Agricultural and Technology University Kanpur, Acharya Narendra Dev Agricultural and Technology University, Kumarganj Ayodhya, Sardar Ballabh Bhai Patel Agricultural and Technology University Meerut, Banda Agricultural and Technology University, Banda and their Director Research, all the Directors of Agriculture Department and all the Planning Officers will participate.

In the meeting, discussions will be held on major investments related to maize production such as maintaining availability of quality seeds at low price, new techniques of crop production, promotion of low cost machine models required to develop maize as an industry, capacity enhancement of production agencies related to industries and development of ethanol based industries. Such strategic discussions will increase the possibility of the state's maize productivity developing as a leading producer state like other states of the country. Along with this, it will help in fulfilling the one trillion dollar economy.

Hybrid paddy seeds will be distributed among farmers

The Additional Director of Agriculture (Rice) will distribute hybrid rice seeds among the beneficiary farmers under the Integrated Grain Development Program in Mohanlalganj block of Lucknow district on July 4 (Friday) at 12 noon. Along with this, direct sowing of hybrid varieties of rice will also be inspected by Bayer Crop Science in the selected villages.
