News Topical, Digital Desk : A case of suicide has been reported in Chamarajanagar district, Karnataka. The employee has accused his superiors of harassment. He alleges that he has not been paid his salary for the past 27 months and that he was mentally harassed by them when he complained.
The man, Chikusa Nayak, wrote these things in his suicide note. He wrote that despite repeatedly requesting payment of pending salaries and resigning due to ill health, the authorities did not respond.
Allegations made in suicide note
Chikusa Nayak wrote in his suicide note, “I have been working as a waterman since 2016. I asked the Panchayat Development Officer and the Gram Panchayat President to pay my 27 months' salary dues, but they ignored it.”
He further wrote, "If I asked for leave, they would first tell me to find someone else who could work in my place. They would force me to sit in their office from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. I am taking my own life because of the harassment by PDO Rame Gowda and Mohan Kumar, the husband of the village panchayat president."
Following Chikusa Nayak's suicide, the District Panchayat CEO suspended the PDO, citing negligence and violation of service rules. The BJP has now attacked the Siddaramaiah government over the issue. The BJP said that another life has been lost due to the Karnataka government's insolvency.
