Lohar/New Delhi: Debt-ridden Pakistan will hoist the world's third tallest flag at the Wagah border. The Indian flag at the Attari border is about 18 feet higher than the Pakistani flag. The total height of the Indian flag is 418 feet.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann hoisted the flag. Currently, Pakistan has the world's fifth tallest flagpole. Its height is 115 meters. Now the government there is going to increase it to 135 meters. After construction, it will become the world's third tallest flagpole.

The seating capacity of spectators will be increased at Wagah border

Pakistan will now copy India and build a spectator gallery at the Wagah border. The government of Pakistan's Punjab province has also formally launched the 'Wagah Joint Check Post Expansion Project' on the international border with India. Its main purpose is to provide more space for the spectators to sit.

3 billion rupees will be spent

An official said that the target is to increase the seating capacity from the current 8,000 to 24,000. The cost of this project is three billion Pakistani rupees. Its completion deadline is December 2025. On the Indian side, Attari has a seating arrangement for 30,000 spectators.

Work accelerated at the ground level

According to the Pakistani official, the aim of the project is to expand the spectator seating capacity like India. A Punjab government official said the project was signed in February but the ground work has now gained momentum.

A historical museum will also be built

The official said that apart from the seating capacity, a state-of-the-art historical museum depicting the history of the Wagah border, a waiting room for VVIPs and a green room will also be built. Security arrangements will be further tightened.
