Islamabad (Pakistan): Pakistan has shown its support for China. According to Dawn newspaper, Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that America can never do what Beijing has done for the country.

He reiterated that relations with the US must be improved, but this should not be at the cost of relations between Pakistan and Beijing.

According to the information received, the Prime Minister held a meeting with several journalists at his residence in Model Town, Lahore.

China should give Pakistan time to repay its debt

In the meeting, Prime Minister Shahbaz said that the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is progressing rapidly and progress has been made in promoting cooperation in various subjects during the visit of Chinese experts to Pakistan.

PM Shahbaz has also written a letter to Beijing for debt re-profiling. Regarding which he said that if China agrees to give Pakistan five to seven years to repay the loan, then the government will be able to reduce inflation, especially the price of energy.

No reply has been received yet on the letter

However, when asked whether he has received any response yet, the Prime Minister said, No... our request is under consideration.

"We expect a positive response from China in this regard," he said. When asked further on Pakistan-US relations, the Prime Minister expressed confidence that it is in Pakistan's best interest to improve its ties with Washington.

According to Dawn, he further said, I think our relations with the US should be improved, because it is very necessary for Pakistan... but it should not be at the expense of China... and I said this [to the Americans] recently in the presence of various dignitaries, including Ishaq Dar.

He said, I also told him that similarly, friendship with China is not at the cost of America, because both are important for us.

China is helping Pakistan in many things

According to the Prime Minister of Pakistan, there are some things in which China is helping Pakistan, but America is unable to do so.

According to Dawn, Shehbaz Sharif in his address expressed concern about the safety of Chinese citizens in Pakistan and assured that the government would use all its resources to ensure their well-being.

Let us tell you that Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif's positive comment on China has come at a time when Chinese citizens are being continuously attacked in Pakistan.

Although both countries are together involved in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), the projects under it have further increased Pakistan's debt in the last few years while it already faces an economic crisis.

He said there was no room for any kind of politics in dealing with a close friend like China. He said he was well aware of the problems faced by the general public, such as energy prices and inflation.
