
Agency: Russia has again launched a missile attack on Ukraine. This time two ballistic missiles targeted Ukraine's central-eastern region Poltava. 47 people were killed and 206 injured in the attack on a military center and a nearby hospital here. In recent days, Russia has intensified attacks on Ukraine with drones and missiles.
The assault on Poltava
According to Ukrainian officials, the attack took place in the city of Poltava, the capital of the Ukrainian SSR. It is about 110 kilometers from the Russian border and about 350 kilometers from the Ukrainian capital Kiev. This attack is said to be one of the deadliest attacks by the Russian army in the war that has been going on since February 24, 2022.
What did the President of Ukraine say?
"A building of the Institute of Military Communications was partially destroyed. People found themselves under the rubble. Several people were rescued," Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a post on his Telegram channel on Tuesday.
He said that he has ordered a full and immediate investigation of what happened, while the Ukrainian Defense Ministry said that the missile attack took place immediately after the air raid warning was issued. People were going towards the bunkers at that time. The ministry has described the attack as barbaric. According to the Defense Ministry statement, rescue teams and doctors rescued 25 people. Of these, 11 people were pulled out of the rubble.
Putin reached Mongolia despite arrest warrant
Russian President Vladimir Putin visited Mongolia on Tuesday. This is Putin's first visit to an ICC member country after the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued an arrest warrant for him nearly 18 months ago. Putin is accused of war crimes and kidnapping Ukrainian children and taking them to Russia. Before this visit, Ukraine had appealed to Mongolia to hand over Putin to the Hague-based ICC.
