Tokyo: Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said on Wednesday that he will not participate in the election for the top post of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party next month. This information has been given in the news of Japan's state TV channel 'NHK'.

Kishida's exit from the race for the LDP presidency means that the next leader elected as party chief will replace him as the country's prime minister, as the LDP has a majority in both houses of the Japanese Parliament, NHK reported.

Many of Kishida's leaders are involved in corruption and scandals

During Kishida's tenure, several leaders of his party have been found involved in corruption and scandals, causing his popularity level to drop below 20 percent.
