News Topical, Digital Desk : Former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh and former Union Minister Uma Bharti has raised questions on her own party's government over the Dharali accident. The BJP leader has advised the Bharatiya Janata Party and BJP governments in hill states in a series of posts on the social media site X. She has written that we should not commit sins.
Uma Bharti wrote on social media site X- The terrible tragedy in Himachal and Uttarakhand is giving us a big warning. It is very important for us to immediately stop the development process of Himalayan states and maintain a balance between nature, environment, tourism and faith. The ISRO report that came immediately after the Joshimath tragedy was immediately withdrawn by ISRO itself. We ignored that warning.
He wrote that the main reason for the tragedy in Dharali and Harshil is not just the cloudburst but the natural lakes on the mountains above Dharali have filled up beyond their limits due to heavy rains and the water of some of them, falling from the mountains, flowed down carrying heavy debris with it, causing devastation and loss of life. These are natural lakes but now some power projects are building hundreds of such lakes in the mountains, some with illegal and some with permission, due to which there is loss of life and the invaluable heritage of the nation is getting destroyed, be it Joshimath, Dharali or Harshil.
'We are BJP people...'
The former Union Minister wrote- The Ganga Action Plan of the Water Resources Ministry was prepared from October 2014 to September 2016 and it was also launched, it can be implemented on the Himalayas and all the Himalayan rivers. But after that it came to a halt, which also includes the affidavit given by the Ganga Ministry in the Supreme Court. Now we should start it again.
Advising the BJP and the government in a questioning tone, Uma wrote that Ganga and its tributaries should be saved, Himalayas should be saved, faith should be maintained, development should be done and employment should also increase in the mountains but there should be no destruction in the guise of development. This is the action plan which has become resultless after being implemented in pieces. We, the people of BJP, should not commit the sin of destroying Himalayas, Ganga and other ever-flowing rivers in our time and prevent any such possibility in the future.
