News Topical, Digital Desk : The birth anniversary of Lord Shri Ram, or Ram Navami (Ram Navami 2026), is one of the biggest and holiest festivals in Hinduism. There is some confusion among devotees regarding the date of Ram Navami in 2026, whether it will be celebrated on March 26 or March 27.

Actually, such a situation often arises due to change in the time of dates according to the calendar.

Why is there confusion regarding the date?

According to the Vedic calendar, Lord Rama was born on the Navami Tithi (the ninth day of the bright fortnight) of the Chaitra month, at noon (Madhyana Kaal). This Navami Tithi begins at 11:49 am on Thursday, March 26, 2026. This Tithi will end at 10:08 am on the next day, i.e., Friday, March 27, 2026.

Rule of scriptures

Scriptures state that the Ram Navami fast and birth anniversary should be observed only on days when the Navami Tithi is present during the afternoon (Madhyana Kaal). However, the Navami Tithi will not be there during the afternoon on March 27th.

Therefore, according to the Panchang , celebrating Ram Navami on March 26, 2026, is considered the best and most sacred date. However, those who adhere to the Udaya Tithi (the date at sunrise) can also celebrate the festival on March 27.

The most auspicious time for worship

The worship of Lord Rama's birth is performed at noon. On March 26, 2026, the most auspicious time for worship will be from 11:21 am to 1:46 pm. During this time, the main "midday" moment of Lord Rama's birth will occur at exactly 12:27 pm, which is considered extremely powerful for meditation and prayer.

How to worship?

Bath and purification: On this day, wake up early in the morning, take a bath and wear clean clothes (yellow in colour).

Temple Preparation: Clean the temple at home thoroughly and anoint the idols of Lord Rama , Mother Sita and Laxman ji with Ganga water or Panchamrit.

Offering: Offer yellow flowers, sandalwood, rice grains, incense and lamps to the Lord.

Recitation and Mantras: Reciting Ramcharitmanas or chanting the mantra "Om Ramaya Namah" as per your capacity is considered especially fruitful on this day.
