News Topical, Digital Desk : The Supreme Court has agreed to hear on October 10 a plea seeking a CBI probe into the stampede that occurred on September 27 in Karur, Tamil Nadu, at a political rally of actor and TVK founder Vijay Joseph, in which 41 people were killed and over 60 injured.

A bench of Chief Justice B.R. Gavai and Justice K. Vinod Chandran on Tuesday heard BJP leader Uma Anandan's appeal seeking a CBI probe into the accident.
A lawyer told the bench, "The plea for a CBI inquiry has been dismissed, while a single judge said he was not satisfied with the investigation." The Chief Justice said, “List it on Friday.”
Meanwhile, Vijay has begun contacting the families of the victims via WhatsApp video calls eight days after the Karur tragedy. An affected family reported that the TVK chief personally called and spoke with some of the affected families on the evening of October 6th. A TVK source said it was unclear whether Vijay would visit Karur, but he had asked party members to contact the affected families.
