News Topical, Digital Desk : US President Donald Trump is constantly talking about acquiring Greenland. Meanwhile, when Russian President Vladimir Putin was asked about the growing dispute between the US and Denmark, he said, "We have nothing to do with this."

Vladimir Putin clarified Russia's position on Greenland in a televised address to the National Security Council on Wednesday, January 21. Putin also pointed out that Denmark had previously sold Alaska and an island group to the United States.

Putin clarified his stance on Greenland

Russian President Putin said, "What happens to Greenland is none of our business. Denmark, by the way, has always treated Greenland like a colony and has adopted a very harsh, even brutal, attitude towards it. But this is a completely different matter, and I don't think anyone is interested in it at the moment."

Putin added, "This dispute does not affect us in any way. I think they will resolve it among themselves." Putin pointed out that Denmark sold the Virgin Islands to the United States in 1917. Putin also recalled that in 1867, Russia sold Alaska to the United States for US$7.2 million.

The United States is constantly trying to seize Greenland from Denmark. In 2019, when Trump was President, he even talked about buying Greenland. After becoming President again, Trump is once again talking about annexing Greenland.
