News Topical, Digital Desk : An Indian national nurse working at Singapore's prestigious Raffles Hospital has been accused of molesting a man. After being found guilty of molestation, the Indian national nurse has been sentenced to 14 months in jail and two strokes of the cane.

In fact, 34-year-old Elipe Siva Nagu, an Indian citizen, works as a nurse at a major hospital in Singapore. She was accused of making inappropriate advances toward a male visitor to Raffles Hospital under the pretext of "disinfecting" him. She was suspended from nursing duties immediately after the incident.

The court pronounced the sentence

The accused pleaded guilty, according to The Straits Times. A Singapore court sentenced him to one year and two months in prison on Friday. During the hearing, the court was told that the crime had caused the victim to recall the incident. However, details about the victim, including her age, were redacted from court documents.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Eugene Phua said the victim went to the hospital on North Bridge Road to visit his grandfather, who was admitted there, on June 18. At around 7.30pm, the victim entered a patient's toilet and while he was using the toilet, Alip peeked inside.

DPP Phua said that under the pretext of "disinfecting" the victim, Alip applied soap to his hands and molested him. The court was told that the stunned victim was unable to move due to shock. Later, the victim returned to his grandfather's bedside after the ordeal.

The case was registered on June 21

Court documents do not detail what happened next, but the case was filed on June 21. Elipe was arrested two days later. On Friday, the court sentenced Elipe Shiva Nagu to one year and two months in jail and two strokes of the cane.
