News Topical, Digital Desk : China has taken strict action against its own top army generals. Both officers are on the radar of Chinese President Xi Jinping.
An investigation has been ordered against two officers, including General Zhang Youxia, the top vice chairman of China's Central Military Commission (CMC). Both have been accused of serious violations of discipline and law.
Defense Ministry gave information
According to the Chinese Defense Ministry, Liu Zhenli and Liu Zhenli are the top vice-chairmen of the powerful Central Military Commission (CMC) led by President Xi Jinping. Both have come under investigation by China's ruling Communist Party. The Chinese government has not disclosed the charges against Zhang and Liu.
The Ministry of Defence said-
After deliberations by the CPC Central Committee, it was decided to launch an investigation against Zhang Youxia and Liu Zhenli.
Purification campaign
According to a CNN report, China has launched an anti-corruption purge within its military. Both officers failed to prove their loyalty to Xi Jinping.
More than 2 lakh officers were punished
However, this isn't the first time China has launched such a campaign. These campaigns have been carried out periodically in China. Since Xi Jinping came to power in 2012, more than 200,000 officials have been punished.
