Many names have come up to carry forward the legacy of 007 as a successful spy in Daniel Craig's five films. Some believe that Bond's fabulous tuxedo Theo would be best suited for James, while others consider Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Henry Cavill to be the right choices.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson
Aaron Taylor-Johnson has been a potential contender for the franchise ever since The Sun reported in November 2022 that he was up for the role should he accept it. The actor has since been constantly dodging questions about the franchise. At the New York City premiere of his superhero film Kraven the Hunter in December 2024, when Entertainment Tonight asked him if fans wanted to see him in the role of James Bond, Taylor-Johnson laughed it off.
Regé-Jean Page
Regé-Jean Page's name came into the limelight when he played the Duke of Hastings in Bridgerton in 2020 and became a household name overnight. He said of the speculation to Vanity Fair in February 2023. "It's a discussion that people are having, and it's great that they're doing it. I'll leave them to it."
When asked whether or not he would take the role, Page replied, “I don't know. It's not something that occupies my thoughts at all. I have a lot on my plate at the moment. I worry about my job, not the job of others.”
Richard Madden
Richard Madden was also an early contender. Like others on this list, when asked about the same at Cannes 2019, he gave a very brief answer. "It's great to be in the conversation. But it's all just a conversation and I'm sure next week you'll come up with someone else's name," the Game of Thrones actor said.
Idris Elba
Idris Elba's name is among the actors whose name was discussed for the longest time. He said that he is happy that people want to see him in this role, but when the conversation is about race, I stay away from it.
Pierce Brosnan
Pierce is one of the strongest contenders in this race. Pierce Brosnan also seemed happy to take the place of 007. Talking about this to GQ, Brosnan said, "I have heard about it. Of course, how can I not be interested in it?"
