News Topical, Digital Desk : Mohammad Rafi and Kishore Kumar were not only legendary artists of Hindi cinema, but they were also good friends in real life. Today, we're going to tell you an anecdote related to their friendship that is rarely discussed in the history of Hindi cinema.
This incident occurred when film director Yash Chopra insulted Rafi Sahib in front of Kishore Kumar, and Kishore Kumar could not tolerate it. Let's explore the entire incident in detail in this article.
The story of the recording of this song
In 1976, songs were being prepared for the film Doosra Aadmi, starring Rishi Kapoor, Shashi Kapoor, Neetu Singh, and Rakhee Gulzar. The film was directed by Ramesh Talwar and produced by Yash Chopra. Rajesh Roshan was assigned as the music director for Doosra Aadmi. The movie included a song to be sung by Kishore Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar. Its lyrics were: “ Chal Kahin Door Nikal...”
The song featured a flashback scene, requiring a male singer's voice. Rajesh Roshan and Kishore Da wanted Mohammed Rafi's voice. However, Yash Chopra felt that why bother Rafi with such a short stanza.
Rajesh Roshan refused and called Mohammed Rafi to the recording studio to lend his voice to the song. The soulful voices of the three legendary singers, Lata Mangeshkar, Kishore Kumar, and Mohammed Rafi, resonated in the studio. The recording was superb, and everyone applauded. Yash Chopra immediately announced an honor for the three singers and ordered bouquets of flowers.
Yash Chopra did a bad thing
Yash Chopra then gave the bouquet to Lata Mangeshkar first. Mohammad Rafi was standing in the middle, but instead of him, Yash handed the bouquet to Kishore Kumar. Seeing this, Kishore Kumar became angry and said, "What are you doing? Give this bouquet to Rafi sahab first." But by then, it was too late and Mohammad Rafi, upset, left the studio, thus creating a rift between Yash Chopra and the singer.
