To teach them a lesson, Shri Radha and her friends would beat Krishna and the cowherd boys with sticks. Krishna would use shields to defend himself. This act of Lord Krishna has been named Lathmar Holi. This tradition has been followed ever since. During this time, the entire Braj region is filled with a special atmosphere.
