While living in Ooty, he created his own industry, but the media turned against him, even though these films were well-received.

Many of Mithun's films like 'Watan Ke Rakhwale', 'Swarg Se Sundar', 'Jaal', 'Pyar Jhukta Nahi', 'Pyar Ka Mandir', 'Agneepath', 'Pyar Ke Do Pal', 'Waqt Ki Awaaz', 'Prem Pratigya' have been shot in Ooty.

Tina Munim mistook Mithun for a B-grade hero.
While Mithun was working in the industry, he also acted in various films. He often acted in low-budget films as an action hero. When actress Tina Munim was offered a film with Mithun, she assumed he was a B-grade hero. 

In fact, Tina and Mithun appeared together in the 1984 film Wanted. Before this film, Tina Munim had a different image of Mithun; she thought he was a hero of B-grade films. However, when Mithun Chakraborty achieved stardom, even Tina was stunned.
