News Topical, Digital Desk : Air India's Boeing 737-200 aircraft, which had been idle at Kolkata Airport for 13 years, was finally set off on its final journey, covering 1,900 kilometers. However, it was transported by road, not via the runway.

In fact, call it human error or an administrative oversight, a perfectly good Boeing plane broke down while parked at Kolkata airport. This 43-year-old aircraft was even missing from the books. Now that it has been discovered to be Air India's, it has been sent on its final journey.

The plane is 43 years old

According to a report in The Times of India, Air India had the 43-year-old aircraft parked at Kolkata airport, but no one knew about it. Surprisingly, the Boeing 737 was the only aircraft sold with Pratt & Whitney engines. Air India disposed of the remaining nine unused aircraft without engines.

Meditation came after 13 years

Air India stored an aircraft in its hangar and forgot about it. Now, 13 years later, it's realized it's still parked at the airport. However, Air India no longer needs it. The aircraft was flown from Kolkata to Bengaluru on November 14th, where it will be used for training.

It had also disappeared from the ledgers.

This incident is truly surprising, as the disposal of a Boeing 737 is unusual. We only recently learned that it belonged to us. The most significant thing is that the aircraft disappeared from the company's books during privatization three years ago. Boeing was only brought to their attention when Kolkata airport officials pointed it out.

After 13 years of abandonment at Kolkata airport, the Boeing 737-200 aircraft was finally removed from the premises. The aircraft was transported on a tractor-trailer to Bengaluru, where it will now be used to train maintenance engineers.
