This clash escalated so much that a curfew had to be imposed in the area. A large number of police forces have been deployed on the spot and the police is continuously patrolling the area.

Regarding the incident, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar said, “Taking seriously the tense atmosphere created after a post made on social media, I myself visited Yavat village. During this, I reviewed the entire incident with local citizens and the police administration.”

How did the violence erupt?

Actually, this entire dispute started with an objectionable post on WhatsApp. A young man allegedly shared an objectionable post on a WhatsApp group. After this, the people of the village gradually came out on the streets and people from the other side also came. On this, the mob pelted stones at the house of the youth who posted on social media. After the dispute escalated, it took the form of a violent clash.

Curfew imposed in the area

In view of the increasing violence, curfew was imposed in Yavat village in Daund taluka of Pune district. A large number of police forces have been deployed. Police personnel are continuously patrolling the area.

Regarding the Pune incident, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that this violence broke out after a controversial post was made on social media. Some outsider made the post viral, due to which the situation worsened and people took to the streets. However, now the situation is under control and talks are being held with both the parties.

What did Deputy CM Ajit Pawar say?

Regarding the Pune incident, Deputy CM Ajit Pawar said that taking seriously the tense atmosphere created after a post made on social media, I myself visited Yavat village. During this, I reviewed the entire incident with the local citizens and the police administration.

He further said that I have given clear instructions to the administration to take appropriate and strict action against the culprits in this case. The police system is fully alert to maintain law and order and is keeping a close watch on the situation.

What did the police say?

Police say that an incident had taken place in the village a week ago, so the situation was already tense here. The villagers took to the streets and some youths tried to vandalise a structure.
