News Topical, Digital Desk : Scars on President Donald Trump's hands have been a topic of discussion for months. Rumors gained further traction during his appearance at the World Economic Forum this week.

A large scar appeared on the president's left palm at the signing ceremony for his new Board of Peace on January 22. This scar became a topic of discussion because it had previously been seen on his right hand.

What about the marks on Trump's hands?

Several photos from the event in Davos, Switzerland, showed a large, blue, circular bruise beneath the index and middle fingers of Trump's left hand.

Since February of last year, several photos of Trump with a large blue mark on his right wrist have gone viral. Sometimes, a patch of makeup was also visible in the photos.

White House cleaning on the trail

White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt first addressed the speculation, saying, "President Trump has blue marks on his hands because he works constantly. He shakes hands all day every day."

He also said at the time, "President Trump is a man of the people. His commitment is unwavering, and he proves it every day."

Then, in July 2025, White House physician Sean Barbabella explained the president's blue marks. He wrote that they were caused by minor soft tissue irritation from repeated handshake and aspirin use.

How much truth is there in the handshake thing?

Now the mark visible on his hand is also a topic of discussion because the issue of handshake does not apply to the injury mark seen at the World Economic Forum, because Trump works with his right hand and is almost always seen shaking hands with his right hand.

Speaking to a CBS News reporter on Thursday, Levitt offered a new reason for the bruise on Trump's left hand. He said, "At the Board of Peace event in Davos today, President Trump's hand hit the corner of the signing table, causing the injury."

Which disease is Trump suffering from?

Recently, Trump spoke about his aspirin use in an interview with The Wall Street Journal, titled, "As signs of aging appear, Trump responds with recklessness."

He told the publication that the blue marks are because he's been taking more aspirin than his doctors recommend, as he's superstitious.

"Doctors say aspirin is good for thinning the blood," Trump said. “I don't want thick blood flowing to my heart. I want good, thin blood flowing to my heart. Does that make sense?”

Trump's thinning skin

The WSJ report also claims that Trump's closest advisers have noticed his skin growing thinner.

One incident reportedly involved his current Attorney General, Pam Bondi, giving him a high-five at the 2024 Republican National Convention while he was wearing a ring, causing his hand to bleed.
