News Topical, Digital Desk : The weather continues to fluctuate. On Friday, the weather suddenly changed in some parts of the state, bringing thunderstorms, rain, and hailstorms. Two teenagers and a woman were killed by lightning during a rainstorm in Chitrakoot. Two teenagers were burned.

In Varanasi, a couple was killed and five others were seriously burned in separate incidents of lightning. Lightning struck Bhadohi and Lalitpur, claiming one life each. Storms, showers, and hailstorms also damaged crops, raising concerns among farmers.

According to the Meteorological Department, rain, hail, and lightning are expected in most districts of eastern and western Uttar Pradesh on Saturday. Wind speeds could reach 50 to 60 kilometers per hour. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert in 35 districts regarding this.

In the Bhartikuup area of ​​Chitrakoot, 15-year-old Vikas, 14-year-old Karan, 15-year-old Neeraj, and 13-year-old Sumit had gone to the fields to graze goats. When it started raining, the four teenagers stood under a tree to avoid getting wet. That's when lightning struck.

Vikas and Karan died on the spot. Neeraj and Sumit suffered severe burns. Meanwhile, 48-year-old Rajpatiya Devi was gathering harvested chickpeas in the field during the rain when lightning struck her. She died on the way to the district hospital.

In Varanasi, middle school teacher Ramesh Ram and his wife were struck by lightning and killed. Three women from the same family were struck by lightning while returning home from a wheat harvesting field. In another incident, a mother and son were burned.

In Bhadohi, a 12-year-old boy was struck by lightning while accompanying his grandfather to the fields. In Lalitpur, a teenager who had gone out with his father and sisters to protect items stored outside the house from getting wet was struck by lightning and died. Crops have been damaged in Purvanchal and Bundelkhand.

In Varanasi and surrounding districts, a storm with winds of up to 60 km per hour, accompanied by thunder and lightning, has halted the harvesting of the ripe wheat crop standing in the fields. Farmers could suffer significant losses as the harvested crops stored in the barns become wet.

The mango crop has also been damaged. Meanwhile, in Banda, Chitrakoot, Hamirpur, and Jalaun, the rain damaged harvested wheat and gram crops. Hailstorms also occurred in Jalaun late Thursday night. Drizzle continued in Mahoba.
