During a meeting in Quetta, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that Pakistan wants to approach the world not with a begging bowl but as an equal partner for trade, investment and innovation.

 

Which countries does Pakistan consider its friends?

Addressing army officers at the Command and Staff College in Quetta, PM Sharif said, “China is Pakistan's most trusted friend. Countries like Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Qatar and UAE are our most trusted allies. All these countries want to connect with us as equal partners. We want to work together in areas like trade, innovation, education and health.”

"I and Field Marshal Asim Munir are the last people to shoulder this economic burden. Now this burden is on the shoulders of the entire nation," Shahbaz Sharif said, referring to Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir. 

 

Pakistan is continuously taking loans from the world

Just a few days ago, the IMF has given Pakistan a new loan of $1 billion (about Rs 8,500 crore). At the same time, China has assured Pakistan to repay a commercial loan of $3.7 billion (Rs 32 thousand crore) in Chinese currency before the end of June.

 

Pakistan's economy has been badly affected amid India-Pakistan tensions. The Pakistani rupee has fallen slightly against the dollar this financial year. On Tuesday, the value of one dollar was equal to 282.2 Pakistani rupees.

 

Pakistan got upset due to suspension of Indus Water Treaty

At the same time, Pakistani MP Syed Ali Zafar had shown uneasiness about the Indus Water Treaty a few days ago. He had said that if the crisis is not resolved, a large population may die of hunger. The Indus basin is our lifeline. Three-fourth of our water comes from outside the country. Nine out of every ten people are living their lives on international border basins.
