This was posted by Vivek Ramaswami

Vivek Ramaswami made this post amid growing tensions over the H-1B visa program in the US. After which users have made many racist and anti-immigrant comments. Let us tell you that 38-year-old Vivek Ramaswami is a native of southwest Ohio. His mother is a psychiatrist and his father worked as an engineer in General Electric, his parents came to America from Kerala.

In the post, Ramaswami talked about his first date with his wife Apoorva

In his post, Ramaswami shared the story of his first date with his wife Apoorva. Sharing two photos, he wrote that he met a smart medical student named Apoorva in 2011. He asked her out on a first date, and then they left for a weekend and climbed Flattop Mountain in the Rockies.

He further said that we were very close to the summit when a snowstorm came. I was still foolishly insisting on reaching the summit when he held my hand, looked into my eyes and said that we have a lifetime to come back and do it again.

"After 14 years and two kids, we are finally back together this weekend to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. Grateful for the love of my life and every day we have together," Ramaswamy wrote.

People said- are there no mountains in your country

The post was followed by racist comments from some and many users asked the couple to "go back to India". "We want you to go back to India and explore the hiking trails there. Don't you have mountains in your country?" one user commented. Another user said that you should be deported. Why do both of you look 3-4 shades lighter? You have not bleached your skin.

Ramaswami targeted by people over H-1B visa program

This backlash and discriminatory comments underscore Ramaswami's continued involvement in the H-1B visa controversy. Even though he has publicly criticized the H-1B visa program, online critics have accused him of favoring the same system because of his Indian identity. Notably, ever since the re-election of Donald Trump as US President, there has been an intense debate on the H-1B visa and its job market impact on US citizens.
