Chhath Puja, the grand festival of folk faith, begins on the Chaturthi Tithi of the Krishna Paksha (dark fortnight) of the month of Kartik. Vinayak Chaturthi is also celebrated on this day. However, devotees are unsure about the exact date. Let's find out the correct date and auspicious time for Nahay Khay and Vinayak Chaturthi.

When will Vinayak Chaturthi be celebrated?

According to the Vedic calendar, the Chaturthi Tithi of the Shukla Paksha (bright fortnight) of the Kartik month will begin at 7:06 am on September 25th. There is a tradition of observing the moon on the Chaturthi Tithi. For this,  Vinayaka Chaturthi of the Shukla Paksha of the Kartik month will be celebrated on October 25th.

When is Nahay Khay?

Chhath Puja begins on the Chaturthi Tithi of the Shukla Paksha (bright fortnight) of the month of Kartik. Nahai Khay is celebrated on the first day. Kharna is celebrated on the second day. On the Shashthi Tithi of the Shukla Paksha of the month of Kartik, offerings are made to the setting sun. The next day, offerings are made to the rising Sun. This year, the Chaturthi Tithi of the Shukla Paksha of the month of Kartik falls on October 25th. Thus, Nahai Khay will also be celebrated on October 25th.

Method of worship

On the Chaturthi Tithi of the Shukla Paksha (waxing phase) of Kartik month, wake up before sunrise. Clean the house. After this, take a bath with water mixed with Ganga water. Now purify yourself by sipping water and wear yellow clothes. At this time, offer water to the Sun God, the factor of the soul. After this, worship Lord Ganesha with Panchopachar (five-pointed ritual). During the puja, recite Ganesh Chalisa and chant mantras. Perform Aarti at the end of the puja. During this time, pray to Lord Ganesha for happiness, prosperity, and peace.

Chant these mantras

1. Vakratunda Mahakaya Suryakoti Samprabha.
