Importance of offering Durva

Durva, also known as Doob, is considered to be a destroyer of the three doshas. Along with offering Durva in the worship of Lord Ganesha, Durva is also used in auspicious functions. Any auspicious function is incomplete without it. Many properties of Doob have also been mentioned in Ayurveda, which make it special. 

 

Rules for offering Durva

While worshipping Lord Ganesha, one should offer 21 pairs (21 knots) of Durva to him. Doing so is considered auspicious. This gives the person the blessings of Lord Ganesha and happiness and prosperity remain in life. While offering Durva, it should be washed with clean water. Also keep in mind that Durva should be plucked from a clean place.

 

Mantra for offering Durva

In the worship of Vinayaka Chaturthi, one should chant the mantra ' Shri Ganeshaya Namah Durvankuran Samarpayami' while offering Durva to Lord Ganesha . By doing this the remover of obstacles becomes happy and all the obstacles in the seeker's life are removed.
