During the referendum for the selection of the metropolitan president in the Congress organization creation program organized at the City Club of Rudrapur, there was a quarrel and even a fight between the workers.

Uproar during opinion poll in Rudrapur

Congress has started a consensus for the selection of new city president, metropolitan president and district president. Under this, AICC observer Dr. Naresh Kumar, PCS observer Pradeep Tamta, Harendra Bora and Sanjay Kiraula reached Rudrapur for a meeting with the workers. As soon as the meeting started, a controversy erupted when some workers expressed their displeasure over the absence of Kichha MLA Tilak Raj Behad's photo in the flexi and Vyapar Mandal president Sanjay Juneja and Vijay Yadav not being called on the stage. The controversy escalated so much that incidents of kicking, slapping and abuse were reported among the workers.

AICC observer Dr. Naresh Kumar had to intervene to calm the situation. After the meeting was over, the situation worsened again, and the video of the fight went viral on social media. Both parties have submitted a complaint to the police and demanded action.

Saurabh Behad accused in viral video

In the viral video, Rudrapur councilor Saurabh Behad has been accused of slapping and kicking a worker. The worker who was assaulted himself uploaded this video on social media. This incident has exposed the internal discord of the Congress, raising questions about the preparations for the 2027 assembly elections.

Statement of AICC observer

AICC observer Dr. Naresh Kumar said that it is Newton's law that every action has a reaction. The dispute happened after the meeting in Rudrapur. A thorough investigation will be done, and strict action will be taken against the culprits, no matter how big a leader they are. He said that the party high command will be made aware of the entire matter and steps will be taken to prevent such incidents.

Anger of Kichha MLA Tilak Raj Behad

Expressing his displeasure over the incident, Kichha MLA Tilak Raj Behad said that Rajendra Mishra had worked the hardest in the Panchayat elections, yet he was beaten up. He alleged that the workers who beat up Rajendra Mishra were already targeting him and he was also threatened over the phone. Behad said that if I had been there, such a situation would not have arisen. The workers were beaten up in the presence of the supervisor, and the bosses of the people who beat them up had disappeared half an hour earlier. Those who raised their hands on the workers who were laying the carpet should be ashamed.

Sandeep Cheema's answer

Former District Panchayat Vice President Sandeep Cheema claimed that Sanjay Juneja and Rajendra Mishra started the ruckus over the welcome program. According to Cheema, Rajendra Mishra abused, and later a situation of pushing and shoving arose. He said that there was no fight. If slapping was done, then there should be footage of it. Rajendra Mishra himself left the City Club. Everyone knows at whose behest all this is happening.

Congress factionalism exposed

This incident in Rudrapur has once again brought the internal factionalism of the Congress to the fore. Efforts are being made to strengthen the party's organization before the 2027 assembly elections, but such incidents are damaging the party's image.
