Uttarakhand News: In view of the increasing incidents of forest fires in Uttarakhand, the government has now decided to prepare a special strategy to deal with this serious problem. A special action plan is being prepared for these areas by marking seven districts of the state, Chamoli, Tehri, Pauri, Nainital, Almora, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh. This plan will be prepared jointly by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and the State Forest Department

Taking the first step towards this action plan, NDMA, in collaboration with the Forest Department, has started the process of preparing a report of primary projects in these districts. Under this, the working system of other states is also being studied so that an effective and practical model can be prepared for Uttarakhand.

In-depth study on forest fires
Under the guidance of Dr. Chandramohan Mohant, Secretary, Ministry of Forest and Environment, NDMA has done an in-depth study on forest fires in 19 states of the country. Uttarakhand has also been included in this study. In this, those areas have been identified which are considered highly sensitive from the point of view of forest fires.

The project report being prepared by the Forest Department includes 21 highly sensitive forest areas of the state. The damage caused by forest fire in these areas and the efforts made so far to prevent it are being analyzed. A new strategy will be implemented based on the report.

Work on a permanent solution
The aim of the forest department is to control the incidents of fire in time and to minimize the damage to forests. For this, work is being done towards a permanent solution. To implement this plan, state-of-the-art technology will also be used.

According to Additional Chief Forest Conservator Jayaraj and Disaster Management Director Parmanand Mishra, a workshop has been organized at the Mussoorie Forest Training Institute in which state and national level experts participated. The master control room and stations located in Raipur range were also inspected during the workshop.
