Meerut: You can make your home electricity bill zero by taking advantage of the Prime Minister Surya Free Electricity Scheme. A workshop was organized in the auditorium of Lala Lajpat Rai Medical College on Tuesday regarding this scheme.

The workshop was inaugurated by MP Arun Govil and Rajya Sabha member Dr. Laxmikant Bajpai. NEDA project officer Pramod Bhushan Sharma and Mayank from Lucknow gave complete information about the scheme to the people. It was told that 22 thousand 460 people from Meerut district have applied online for this scheme.

Under this scheme, solar panel energy system has been installed in the houses of 11 people of the district. Electricity bill has become zero in these 11 houses. Those who take advantage of the scheme are being given subsidy by the government. If someone takes a one kilowatt connection, then its cost will be 65 thousand rupees.

At the same time, a subsidy of 35 thousand rupees will be given by the government. At the same time, there is a subsidy of up to one and a half lakh rupees on a connection up to 10 kilowatts. Minister of State for Energy Dr. Somendra Tomar, Mayor Harikant Ahluwalia, District Magistrate Deepak Meena, Chief Development Officer Nupur Goyal were present.

To avail the benefits of this scheme, you can apply online by visiting pmsuryaghar.gov.in. When you apply, you will be asked for your mobile number. After feeding the mobile number, an OTP will come. After this, you can start applying. While applying online under this scheme, you will have to upload Aadhaar card, domicile certificate, electricity bill, bank passbook, four passport size photos, ration card, income certificate etc.
