Vrindavan/Mathura: The festival of Shri Krishna Janmashtami will be celebrated on August 27 at Thakur Bankebihari Temple. The Mangala Aarti held in the temple on Shri Krishna Janmashtami, which is held only once a year, will be held at 2 am between 27th and 28th. Nandotsav will be held on the morning of 28th August. The birth anniversary of Lord Krishna will be celebrated on August 26 at Shri Krishna Janmasthan.

Acharya Prahladvallabh Goswami, sevayat of Thakur Bankebihari temple, said, the festivals held throughout the year in Thakur Bankebihari temple are also celebrated on the basis of Udaya Tithi. Information about all these festivals is already given in the Vratotsav Nirnaya published every year by the temple management committee. Festivals are celebrated in the temple according to the dates of the festivals mentioned in this Vratotsav.

Shri Krishna's birthday is on 27th

According to the temple's Vratotsav, this time Lord Krishna's birth anniversary will be celebrated on 27th August. Mangala Aarti of Thakur Bankebihariji will be held at 2 o'clock in the night on 27th and 28th. This happens only once a year on Shri Krishna Janmashtami. Mahabhishek of the deity will be held on 27th August on Janmashtami from 12 o'clock in the night. Its darshan will not be available for common visitors. After this, Mangala Aarti will be held at around 2 o'clock in the night.

Until a few decades ago, this Mangala Aarti used to take place at 4 am in the morning, in which only a limited number of devotees used to participate. But, now due to continuous publicity, lakhs of devotees flock to see this special Aarti.
