Kaushambi: A group of devotees from Balrampur in Chhattisgarh state had left a week ago. They had visited Ayodhya, Mathura and then left for Varanasi via Prayagraj. On Friday morning, three devotees, including a woman, died when a pickup collided with a parked trailer near Gulampur in Saini police station area. The remaining 16 were injured. The injured have been admitted to the district hospital for treatment. They are undergoing treatment there.
According to the information received on the spot, this group of 21 Kanwariyas from Piprahi and Jawahar Nagar of Balrampur police station area of Chhattisgarh was going to their home via Prayagraj, Varanasi via Deoghar, Ayodhya, Vrindavan, Mathura. At 5:30 am on Thursday, their pickup collided with a trailer parked on the side of the road near Gulampur in Saini police station area of Kaushambi.
There was a commotion at the spot after the incident. Hearing the cries of the people, a crowd of local people gathered. The police was informed about the incident. The police reached the spot and with the help of the local people sent the injured to the hospital.
The deceased have been identified as Muni Prajapati, 60, son of Kattu Prajapati, Jawahar Nagar, Balrampur Police Station, Balrampur District, Chhattisgarh, Fenkushaw, 65, son of Govardhanshaw, Vardhar, Balrampur Police Station, Balrampur District, Chhattisgarh and Shivkumari, 55, wife of Harishchandra Piprahi, Balrampur Police Station, Balrampur District.
