Aligarh:  IAS Transfer: Rude behavior with the public, public representatives, councilors and irregularities in work proved costly for Municipal Commissioner Amit Aseri. He was transferred late Friday night. He has been made Special Secretary PWD. This is being said to be the main reason behind this.

Just three days ago, city MLA Mukta Raja and Kol MLA Anil Parashar had met the Chief Minister in this regard. The city MLA had complained that the municipal corporation officials do not listen to anyone. The public is upset. Due to this, the party candidate got less votes in the city assembly constituency in the Lok Sabha elections.

The contract for garbage collection was given to a private company

Without any discussion or proposal in the Municipal Corporation House, the contract for door-to-door garbage collection worth Rs. 1.02 billion was given to a private company. Earlier, in the contract given to A-to-Z, the Municipal Corporation had provided 50 vehicles. But here, 322 vehicles were purchased and given to the new company. The contract for garbage collection worth more than Rs. 1 billion was given to a private company and the House was not even given an inkling of it. Dainik Jagran had prominently published this matter in its issue of 26 July. People who came to Seva Bhawan with complaints were stopped outside the gate itself. This happened for the first time that the main gate of Seva Bhawan was locked. Municipal Commissioner Amit Aseri was transferred.

The women protested

Women had also protested against this on Thursday. IAS officer Amit Aseri took over as Municipal Commissioner on 19 September 2022. In his tenure of one year and 10 months, he failed to win the hearts of the people. People took to the streets for drinking water. They were troubled by waterlogging. The problem was not resolved on time. The councilors were also upset, they too were not able to respond in their areas. They also complained to the public representatives.

Could not provide pure drinking water to city dwellers

As a Municipal Commissioner, the most burning problem was the inability to provide pure drinking water to the city residents. There was no corner of the city left where the people did not come to the Municipal Corporation or protest in their area. Councillors were held hostage, bangles were given to the officials. The drinking water system was not strengthened by pre-planning in the winter season itself. Women came to the Municipal Corporation Seva Bhawan and protested fiercely. But water could not be made available.

Similarly, dreams of getting rid of the problem of waterlogging were shown to the public but irregularities and arbitrariness were done in the cleaning of drains which the Municipal Commissioner kept ignoring. The permanent problem of waterlogging on Maris Road has not been resolved till now. Water gets accumulated on Maris Road till Babuji Kalyan Singh residence.

0 lakhs paid without the entire drain being cleaned

Two firms were hired through tenders for cleaning the drains but Rs 10 lakh was paid to the firms without cleaning the drains properly. Not only this, the street lighting system also remained poor during their tenure. First EESL company, then IAN and after that Holonex company's lights were installed. The proposal of the firm which is installing Holonex's lights was also not placed in the Nagar Nigam House. A contract of Rs 5 crore was awarded arbitrarily by just getting the tender done.

The problem of drinking water had reached such a peak that from city MLA Mukta Raja to coal MLA Anil Parashar, everyone wrote letters to the Municipal Commissioner and directed him to improve the system. But even after writing their letters, no improvement could be made. The public representatives had also expressed their displeasure over this.

People were very troubled by the water problem during summers. Even the problems of the people who came to my office with complaints were not solved. I had explained the whole matter to the Chief Minister only a few days ago. Mukta Raja, city MLA

Whoever the officer is, his first duty is to solve the problems of the public. This was not happening in the Municipal Corporation. People are troubled by problems like water, waterlogging, house tax and others. Anil Parashar, Kol MLA
